My team did the hard stuff, and we crushed it. Expanded DevEx to include Quality Engineering functions for Guild Technology. My direct reports each led and owned a practice to mature and accelerate the org as well as the entire company.Highlights:- Expanded DevEx and Enablement practice to include Quality, forming a shared services organization which powered organizational efficiencies and accelerated change adoption.- Led best practice and standards creation and training for AWS serverless-based architectural focus, which drastically reduced cognitive load for developers applying the pattern by providing consistency and ease-of-use.- Evolved strategic roadmapping, organizational planning and capacity management mechanisms by creating an Agile program management office, transparently aligning work plans to strategic objectives and unlocking critical insights for stakeholders.- Reinvented labor capitalization framework to be data-driven, self-serve and real-time while also removing individual developer time-tracking mechanisms- Sponsored and led company-level platform migration for work management to the Atlassian ecosystem, sunsetting multiple disparate platforms to reduce swivel-chair, magnify transparency, and improve SDLC flow- Expanded operational metrics practice to add self-serve and health-based scoring capabilities, reducing interrupt-based collaboration and offering real-time insights across a multitude of measurements.- Championed distributed culture of inclusion and equity- Partnered across business units for foundational work to establish a singular learning management system for knowledge sharing and in-house training delivery- Led Technology involvement in multiple compliance audits in partnership with Compliance teams, including ITGC and SOC. As we scaled and introduced scores of talented contributors and leaders to a growth-phase business, I scratch-built a unique, diverse DevEx team to organize that inherent chaos, giving life to breathing organizational asset.- Created, staffed and led Guild's Technology Enablement function, pioneering DevEx practices for the company and championing the transformation from scrappy startup to disciplined mid-size enterprise. Implemented numerous new capabilities and efficiencies to hasten organizational maturity during a time of rapid growth.- Initiated a holistic, global strategic roadmap by leading cross-functional programs to provide transparency and align stakeholders with product and engineering Agilists.- Led cross-functional partnerships to consolidate SaaS spending into fewer, better partner platforms through combining use cases across departments, resulting in first-year savings of more than $100k- Created and led a technical onboarding program for the Technology organization to serve new employees as well as provide a library of technical training materials for all staff.- Produced Guild's first knowledge management strategy, leading to significant reductions in discovery time and increased consumption of distributed documentation while also making contributions easier.- Created an operational measurement practice from scratch, providing dozens of data-driven insights into key strengths and areas of focus for continued organizational growth.

Unplugging and spending focused time with family is the most rewarding and fulfilling activity in our lives. I was fortunate enough to spend family time traveling, exploring nature, celebrating small moments, and reconnecting with my priorities.

Software engineering, datacenter engineering, systems administration, devops before it was called devops. Large-scale database clusters, private cloud and cloud storage admin and management. Lot of vendor relationships, including hardware prototyping and other interesting video engineering activities.

Testing software and introducing automated testing via multiple frameworks; partnering with other test engineers on automation efforts and novel techniques to convert analog test efforts into digital task.

Part of the OnDemand launch team and part of the operations center that introduced non-linear streaming video to cable customers.

Mostly stationed overseas, I loved it.
