Paul Okoro is a Tech Ecosystem Architect, Entrepreneur, Developer, and Social Impact Advocate. He founded his first startup LessStress in 2015.In 2016 Paul started doing tech community-building work. He noticed that many techies in Warri back then were working in isolation so he brought them together to be one united, tech-community where people can network, collaborate, learn and share as well as provide support to one another. In mid-2017, Paul and some friends co-founded Warri's first tech community - Warri Tech Network [WTN]. The community grew rapidly under Paul's leadership from less than 60 techies in 2017, to a state-wide tech community today whose members number in the thousands.As members of the Warri tech community grew, the need to have tech hubs in the city to support the innovators became evident. Paul didn't have enough money to set up a hub so he decided to solicit funds from corporate organisations and HNIs in the region. Many of the people he spoke to didn't believe in the vision as such refused to invest or give support. Paul didn't give up but kept on knocking till he met Iyin Aboyeji who introduced him to Adia Sowho. These two amazing individuals gave Paul the needed support (financial/advisory) to make Warri Innovation Hub a reality. The hub was officially incorporated as a private limited company in Nigeria on July 27 2020.As a tech community builder/leader, Paul has organised countless tech/startup events/projects across Delta state which has impacted positively on the lives of thousands of youths in the region. Many times he does this at a personal cost to himself. Some of the events/project's he's organised includes; Warri Tech Meetup, Warri Tech Awareness Campaign, Warri Girls Code, Warri Hackathon TechPowerment, Startup Hangouts etc. It is no surprise that many refer to him as "The Pioneer of Delta Tech."In his journey of building a thriving tech ecosystem in Delta state, Paul has met/engaged with some top organisations/individuals in Nigeria, the likes of Google, Facebook, CcHub, World Bank, Andela, British Council, Ingressive, Flutterwave, Techpoint, PIND, etc.Paul is the chapter director/organizer of several local and international tech/startup communities. He's been nominated and has won multiple awards for his contribution to tech growth in the country. He has also spoken at different tech events across Nigeria. The British Council featured Paul in their 2018 documentary tagged “Defiant Embers."Paul believes innovation and technology and entrepreneurship can drive positive socio-economic changes in Africa.
