Management of inpatients within medical, surgical, oncology and gynaecology specialties

- Research for my PhD thesis uses behavioural science to explore safety challenges surrounding discharge, for the purpose of developing an intervention to improve the safety of patient transitions between hospital and community settings. - Stakeholder engagement - hospital and primary care professionals, patients and carers- Presentation of PhD research at international conference and peer reviewed publication. - Use of qualitative methods including thematic analysis of ethnographic and interview data (collection and analysis), and Delphi technique - Applications to HRA Research Ethics Committees for approval of research projects- Working with and involving patients in research through Lay Partner Study Steering Committee. - Supervision of student research for Masters in Health Policy.

Interruption of PhD studies to contribute to national effort against Covid-19. My role included:- Counselling of risks and benefits of Covid-19 vaccine - Evaluations of risks (e.g. those with known severe allergies)- Administration of vaccine - Speaking with those who declined vaccination to discuss barriers to uptake. Offering impartial and fact based counselling by sharing up to date research on risks and benefits and latest recommendations (e.g. changing guidelines pertaining to pregnant women or those trying to conceive)

During this year I gained experience in the field of unpaid work in the home, improving my understanding and appreciation of how such work, performed by millions on a full-time basis, enables those in paid employment to enjoy family life alongside a fulfilling career. This role's unique challenges provided me with multiple opportunities to improve my prioritising, organisational and time management skills.

Planned gap year between school and beginning medical studies (deferred entry) working in a large French shipbroking company. Full integration into the team, with extension of contract beyond originally agreed time, despite no previous experience in shipping. Value added through transferable communication and language skills, and ability to learn fast. - Management of company market databases. - Weekly compilation and dissemination of newsletters for relevant departments (Bulk, Tanker)- Contribution to translation of commemorative book (French to English) for company's 150th anniversary.
