Accidental events cover seismic events, airplane crash, explosions and blast, missile impact, elevated pressure and temperature, flooding and extreme weather conditions.Included is also the study of beyond design events and design extension conditionsOn a regular basis, Scanscot participate in R&D projects in which the applied advanced numerical simulation methods connected to the evaluation of structures for accidental events are validated in round-robin and benchmark analysis activities where predictions could be compared with test data (e.g. pressurization, airplane crash loading, seismic events).Scanscot have developed forefront skills to efficiently utilize 3D analysis models in combination with advanced numerical simulations in the design and evaluation of civil structures and mechanical components at nuclear power plants and other nuclear facilities. This is emphasized by the fact that Scanscot develop, market and support their own finite element analysis (FEA) software (BRIGADE) and is a reseller of the world-leading FEA software ABAQUS, giving the advantage to have extensive knowledge on customizing and automatizing analysis procedures.Scanscot is engaged in the development of design provisions including Codes & Standards, General Design Criteria and Design Specifications.The company is involved in power uprate, modernization and lifetime extension projects at existing nuclear power plants and other nuclear facilities as well as new build projects.
