Since August 2016 I’m member of the Board of Ballast Nedam N.V. As board member I’m at the moment responsible for the business units Ballast Nedam Industriebouw, Haitsma and Hoco. Furthermore I’m responsible for the shared services Legal, Insurance and Compliance. In the year 2000, I started my career as a lawyer in private practice with the firm Schut en Grosheide, currently DLA Piper, specialising in maritime international trade and insurance law. In 2002, I switched to the Corporate law and Restructuring department of DLA Piper. I was involved in M&A and general corporate law, and I have been appointed as a receiver in several insolvencies.In 2007, I joined Ballast Nedam to become Senior Legal Counsel and Compliance Officer with their Corporate Office. In 2008, I became Secretary of both the Executive and Supervisory Boards. In my role as Compliance Officer I have implemented a new Code of Conduct and a state of the art 24/7 Whistleblower procedure.In 2011 I became the Legal Director & Corporate Secretary for Ballast Nedam N.V. In this role I was responsible for the legal, corporate secretary, insurance and contract management function on a global level and I lead an experienced team of more than forty in-house lawyers, contract managers, insurance professionals, paralegals and other support staff.
