As a Colombian Human Rights and Public Policy Researcher and Advocate, I have 5+ years of experience leading non-profit organizations and academia in the fields of Digital Rights and Freedom of Expression. My mission is to promote social justice and change through analytical frameworks, research based on evidence, and strategic litigation. I specialize in translating complex issues into plain language for broad audiences and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to imagine and create solutions for complex social justice problems.I'm particularly proud of my contributions to two landmark cases that recognized the relevance of privacy rights while using the Covid-19 official mobile app, and the importance of Community Networks in the ICT Law as an alternative form of connectivity in the last mile. To achieve these results, I coordinated with 40+ allied national and international organizations and experts in different fields, obtaining written amicus curiae briefs to support each case before the Colombian Constitutional Court.Additionally, I've successfully influenced five cases before the Constitutional Court through amicus curiae briefs based on a comparative review of international standards regarding zero rating and net neutrality, the digital divide in education in rural areas, and freedom of expression online. Each case has significantly strengthened the Digital Rights agenda in Colombia and the LA region.In addition to my litigation and advocacy work, I have contributed to a dozen research and public policy papers that have had a great impact on diverse issues such as promoting ISP's transparency and user protections, informing several public audiences before Congress, and promoting transparency on AI policies. I'm also experienced in training and capacity building for non-profit organizations, in leading and mentoring public institutions and students at all levels on issues such as Data Protection and Data Governance, Internet Regulation, Access to Culture and Copyright, and Digital Security.As a self-taught learner, I have taught myself English and am currently learning Data Science with a focus on Data Analysis. I'm deeply interested in neuroscience and the power of our brains which makes me question how digital technologies impact us and the way we think about what surrounds us. My ultimate goal is to continue my path as a change-maker within the private and public sectors in Colombia or any other country in the world where my work can lead to deep transformation into tech to benefit us all.
