Specialties: At present: Consultant Emergency and General Surgeon.Scope Of Work:• Since commencing my job here in Feb 2018, I have been a pivotal member of the Emergency General Surgical (EGS) team. • We are a firm of five emergency surgeons on the EGS Unit and provide cover for all surgical patients, during daytime. My roster, on a weekly basis, includes covering Surgical Assessment Unit (SAU) for GP and Emergency Department referrals. Moreover, on the on-call day, in addition of covering SAU all day, I conduct the Emergency Surgical Ambulatory Clinic (ESAC) or what we call the Hot Clinic. This prevents any unavoidable surgical admissions and those particular patients can be treated in an ambulatory setting.• I also perform a general ward round twice a week, on all the EGS inpatients, looking after their day to day surgical management and training Registrars, Core Trainees and Foundation Year doctors.• Operative commitments include twice weekly Emergency Theatre cover and a Hot Gallbladder List, which serves patients with acute cholecystitis, choledocholithiasis, biliary pancreatitis and other surgical urgent cases.• To date, I have performed numerous complex inflamed laparoscopic cholecystectomies very successfully with a very low complication rate. My conversion to open operation is in-keeping with the national average of around 3% so far.• Furthermore, I do a list of semi-elective cases that usually includes herniae, which do not need doing but can be sent home and brought back on these lists. In addition, I have regular sessions of teaching juniors and I participate in our general surgical teaching on a weekly basis.Previously: General surgery and ColoproctologyI am also a self taught Chef, specialising in Persian cuisine, with several of my very own signature dishes.I am continously experimenting with food and innovating; hence devising new recipes and dishes, all the time.I hardly ever stop thinking about food, as it has been simmering inside me for nearly four decades!Furthermore, I can read, write and fluently speak Persian (Farsi), Urdu, Hindi, Dari (Afghan Persian), Hindko (another Indo-Aryan language), Punjabi and Pashto (Indo-Iranian language spoken by Pashtun people of Afghanistan and North West region of Pakistan).
