Internationally exhibited visual artist recently acquired by Norway's National Museum of Photography. Educated as an art director and has assisted the fine-art photographer Dag Alveng (represented by i.e. MOMA and the Met.) Works were last shown abroad at Flowers Gallery in London. I have also exhibited in i.e. Boston, Paris, New York and Los Angeles - together with i.e. Tom Sandberg, Pentti Sammallahti, Pixy Liao, Simen Johan, Anja Niemi and Dag Alveng - and been juried by Roger Ballen. The New Yorker and Harper‘s Magazine has written about my work. I live and work in Lyngør – a car free island society, where I grew up as the twelfth generation in my family. My father is a sailmaker, my grandfather was a sailor, and as a child I rowed to school. I have also circumnavigated the Atlantic Ocean in a pilot cutter from 1894. Everyday life in Lyngør is closely connected to and influenced by the sea, which provides substance and background for my pictorial experiments.I point the camera towards nature and lets the forces of nature appear, through shifting horizontal lines, overlapping cloud formations and layered wave patterns. Through long exposures, or by gathering several exposures from the same subject in one image, the time and movements that activate the landscape are fixed in my photographic work. The intention is to convey an experience of being somewhere, and sense what surrounds oneself.
