I am interested in a position that would allow me to utilize knowledge and skills I have acquired over a career that has included positions in academia, industry and government; my major career successes have been dependent on the adoption or adaptation of new technologies to my particular projects. An additional driver is my emphasis on excellence in technical writing and communication skills. I have published over 150 technical papers, mostly in peer-reviewed journals, have written many grant proposals to Federal agencies (NSF, USDA, EPA, DOE), have served on several editorial boards of scientific journals, and as a professor for 28 years at Cornell University I honed my oral communication skills by daily (and nightly) discussions and debates with students, postdocs, and visiting scientists in my lab. Moreover, I have presented invited lectures at many national and international scientific meetings, and have been an invited guest lecturer at a large number of universities in the US and internationally. Finally, my background is broad and diverse, making me competent and comfortable dealing with a variety of different personalities/audiences/working environments.
