Proteogenomics Research Institute for Systems Medicine (PRISM) is premier non-profit biomedical research institute focused on the development of innovative treatments for a wide spectrum of human diseases, including cancer and pulmonary diseases. PRISM employs the principles of systems science, an ordered and interdisciplinary approach to study the relationships between healthy and diseased tissues. Located in San Diego's suburb La Jolla, CA, PRISM's state-of-the-art facilities combine advanced technologies in proteomics, genomics and in vivo imaging with biochemistry and biophysics to discover and validate novel therapeutic targets.My research is focused on application of synthetic chemistry in cancer biology and genetics. We aim to address the fundamental problems in pharmacological regulation of oncogenic signals to facilitate the development of novel therapies that can directly benefit human health:Specialties: I conduct a multidisciplinary research with an aim to develop mechanism-based cancer therapeutics. We designed a new class of small molecule inhibitors based on the core of epidithiodiketopiperazine (ETP) that effectively downregulate the expression of hypoxia-inducible genes and genes whose protein products are involved in the metastasis of solid tumors. We also target cell surface markers with designed macromolecular and nanoparticle-based agents.
