I am a molecular biologist with a deep interest in molecular oncology, immunology, virology, medical informatics, and bioinformatics. Currently I am interested in oncolytic viruses, especially paramyxoviruses, with a special emphasis on the Sendai virus. Following my PhD, I worked as a research associate at the Department of Human Genetics at the University of Utah, USA. My research there centered on RNA molecules, developing algorithms to predict efficient antisense oligonucleotides, and optimizing design of siRNAs and shRNAs.I moved to Massachusetts and registered at a small biotechnology company, Sendai Viralytics, with the hope of advancing the promising oncolytic Sendai virus closer to the treatment of human and veterinary malignancies. I was inspired by my father’s medical experience in treating various human malignancies in Russia using Sendai virus. I assisted him in patenting the virus in the US and documenting some of his successful cases of remarkable remissions in patent US9526779B2. I wrote the main text in a Wikipedia article about the Sendai virus, also known as Murine respirovirus (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murine_respirovirus). I coauthored several papers with my colleagues in Russia that described the molecular mechanisms of oncolytic activities of paramyxoviruses, including the Sendai virus.
