I have held officer positions at the International HIV/AIDS Alliance and Stonewall. I am an author of publications and briefings on the situation for human rights of LGBT people worldwide for the UK Government, UN and general public. International OfficerStonewall Sep 2013 - Nov 2014London, United KingdomI worked closely with the Head of the International Team to advance Stonewall’s international policy objectives to influence the policy and financial environment to strengthen and support the LGBT movement globally. My role included:- Authoring briefing papers on the situation for human rights of LGBT people in selected countries for the UK Government, Scottish Parliament, MPs and Stonewall’s supporters.- Working with LGBT human rights defenders from 11 countries to submit recommendations on human rights of LGBT people to the Human Rights Council at the United Nations.- Facilitating links and dialogue between the UK FCO, in London and abroad, with overseas LGBT human rights defenders.- Facilitating South-South dialogue between LGBT human rights defenders and groups. - Capacity development and support for overseas LGBT activist organisations and in doing so, developing a network of capable potential in-country partners.- Identifying potential partners amongst mainstream, DFID-contracted NGOs, developing exploratory relationships with them, building a working group to inform DFID’s thinking, and chairing workshops to explore possibilities.- Developing alliances and work partnerships between Stonewall and ILGA Europe, ILGA World and the World Bank. -

I was responsible for coordinating the network in the UK. My role included:- Facilitating and coordinating dialogue between UK based development and health organisations and the UK Government on Post 2015 Development Agenda regarding health.- Co-authoring a report on UK spending for Oversees Development Assistance (ODA) and lobbying the UK Government to enshrine the 0.7% of GNI commitment to ODA in law.- Co-leading a research project in Kenya on the future financing for health.- Co-coordinating a UK based Network of Health Networks Group in order to strategically advocate the UK Government to increase spending on health in the Global South and East. -
Link Up Grant AssistantInternational Hiv/Aids Alliance Jan 2013 - Apr 2013Link Up aims to improve the sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) of over one million young people affected by HIV, especially young people living with HIV and those most marginalised, in five countries in Africa and Asia by integrating HIV and SRHR services, programmes and policy. My role included:- Leading the start up phase of the programme in association with programme consultants and the Head of Contracts Team at the Alliance.- Providing Link Up consultants with logistics and administrative support on daily basis.- Working with in-country partners to prepare workplans and budgets.- Monitor programme implementation, financial performance and budgets. -

My role included:- Planning and delivering effective public advocacy campaigns on HIV and key populations, including LGBT and drug users.- Planning and co-ordinating events as well as researching, producing and designing campaign materials.- Mobilising and supporting the Alliance supporters, staff and volunteers to become active in the Alliance campaigns.- Representing the Alliance and playing a leading role in advocacy coalitions such as the Doughty Street Group and the Stop AIDS campaign. - Supporting the Campaign Manager in coordinating lobbying at the global level for advocacy and rights-based programming for organisations members of the Alliance in Latin America, Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe. -
