This roadmap includes an analysis of best practices from around the world and was launched at the Xianghu Dialogue in November 2024, contributing to sustainable tourism practices globally. This initiative demonstrates a commitment to fostering responsible tourism development and strengthening public-private partnerships for long-term success. In partnership with EBRD, the Government of Uzbekistan, and UNWTO delivered projects aimed at facilitating tourism recovery in Uzbekistan in response to the global impact of COVID-19. My role was to revise existing protocols for reducing the spread of COVID-19 and develop recommended updates to align these protocols with internationally standardized and accepted best practices. I have also proposed new inspection mechanisms to evaluate the application of the realigned protocols and delivered specialized training for key government and private sector tourism personnel on health and safety measures during the pandemic.
