About Oliver Burke

I'm an experienced senior leader and nature conservation professional with over 25 years experience in the non-profit and local government sectors, covering conservation, sustainability & community engagement. I'm passionate about wildlife and the role nature plays in economic prosperity and the health and wellbeing of local communities. Creative, visionary and entrepreneurial, with a love of bringing people and partnerships together to restore the natural world for the benefit of all. I have a passion for inspiring others to take action and I’m increasingly involved in innovative nature based solutions and rewilding programmes, at the forefront of tackling the ecological and climate crisis. As a senior business leader I have a wealth of experience in strategic planning, organisational development, fundraising, financial and personnel management, external affairs, policy advocacy, donor development and programme delivery. I am currently responsible for the day to day management of all operations at Nene Park, one of the most visited country parks in the UK with over 1.9 million visitors annually. The Park covers 2,535 acres from the edge of the City of Peterborough along the River Nene. I manage a varied portfolio of charitable and commercial activities and teams that make Nene Park such a rewarding place to visit. I am the Chair of the Northamptonshire Local Nature Partnership and sit on the Boards of the Cambridgeshire Local Nature Partnership, the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Parks Partnership, John Clare Countryside Partnership and am a Trustee of the Nene Rivers Trust. A Marine Biologist by training, he has worked in the conservation, sustainability & environmental education for over 20 years, in the public and charity sectors.
