Graduate EngineerHayward Tyler Jul 2013 - Jul 2014Luton, Bedfordshire, GbI was responsible for production/ manufacturing engineering. I led projects for continuous improvement of tooling, machinery and layout. I managed a development project of a lean moulding centre for plastic injection moulding, including power cable joints of induction motors for the oil & gas and power industries. This led to my invention of the NJECT Cruser® and registering of trademarks. This work has resulted in improved operator safety, process control and efficiency, traceability of process parameters and quality of the products. I invented the Stator Cruser® material handling and lean manufacturing machine and registered trademarks and applied for patents. The Crusers avoided £0.5m in capital investments and over £200k through manufacturing cost reductions. Total cost benefit to date exceeds £1m.I was responsible for the implementation of standard operating procedures and training of operators.My vision was to to effect change and continuously improve our people, procedures, processes and equipment.I led a project to develop a means of transporting motor stators, rotating assemblies and all other components, using bespoke trolleys and tugs to achieve lean transportation between operations. The motors weighed in the region of 6 to 27 tonnes.
