Ollie held various positions in the hospitality industry before joining the Institute of Tourism Studies as a Lecturer in IT, Office skills and later Front Office Management. Interested primarily in IT solutions and how they can facilitate processes, Ollie became actively involved in the implementation of the SITS student record system at the Institute. He then read a full-time degree in Law – first graduating in Law and Philosophy and then completing his LL.D. with a thesis entitled “Legal Aspects of Software Contracts”. The thesis explored the Law on Contracts of Sale, the legal definition of Software and examined case law (mostly British) to establish how the Courts in Malta would likely pronounce themselves on issues relating to software fitness for purpose and liability.He moved to the United Kingdom in 2003 to provide software and project lead consultancy services for Higher Education institutions in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Malta, Jamaica, Norway and Australia. In 2010 he returned to direct employment in Higher Education by taking up the post of Head of Student Systems at UCL. He has a keen interest in business processes and how these can be improved to enhance the student experience and efficiency in student administration.
