Blisstil was created with one goal in mind: help light sleepers and travellers get the rest they deserve. It comes from a personal desire to solve my own sleep problems and now extends to the problems of my current and future customers. The reality is that 50% of us are disturbed during our sleep because of noise, and most of us have trouble falling back to sleep either because of that noise or a racing mind, and for me, that’s unacceptable, because a solution exists. At Blisstil, we’ve dedicated ourselves to finding it and improving it. Our first patented solution, SleepMuffs, a head hugging pillow that blocks out sound, was released in November 2021 after a successful Kickstarter campaign. Today after selling more than 2000 units and speaking with 100s of customers we now know exactly what to do to create the perfect product.

  • Blue Gum Granny Flats
    Carpenter
Blue Gum Granny Flats Sep 2019 - May 2021
    Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
Becoming a carpenter was, for me, a way to grow my ability in building physical products all while giving me sufficient time to work on Blisstil. In the end I learnt much more than just technical skills. The job taught me the importance of team work and communication. It showed me that however big or daunting a job might seem at first, it always started by simply taking that first step.It taught me that a however different people can be, we all share the same desire to be good at what we do and take pride in our work. Showing appreciation for someone's efforts and respect for what they’ve done creates an environment in which people want to do better. All that creates a strong camaraderie which made working under hard or stressful conditions a lot easier. On the technical front, my carpentry stint allowed me to:- Master the use of various power tools.- Acquire skills in operating machinery, such as excavators and skid-steer loaders.- Understand the intricacies of constructing a house, right from its foundational footings. In total I participated in building 48 small houses of around 100m2 each and one 2 story house of 250m2. Every project we undertook began on untouched land. This part time job took up 3 days of my week from 6am to 3pm which left me left me 4 to 5 hours after work to make progress on Blisstil. The other days of the week, and sometimes weekends, were dedicated to Blisstil.
  • Action Sustainability
    Sustainability Consultant
    Action Sustainability Jul 2017 - Apr 2019
    Sydney, Australia
Working at Action Sustainability was 0 to 100 in a very short amount of time. I was their first employee so I had to learn very quickly lots of different skills. By the end I was going to client meetings by myself, guiding workshops in sustainability and bringing in new work thanks to a few referrals I got.The main take away from this job was that even though it had purpose I did not feel purposeful. I think this was mainly because being a consultant in sustainability is all about making suggestions and trying to convince decision makers to be more sustainable. In the end our motivations and those of the clients are different, meaning we only rarely saw meaningful action take place, and to be honest I was tired of writing reports. By the time I left there were 8 employees and a couple months later they successfully sold the firm to KPMG.At this firm I worked as an ESD engineer and a Sustainable Procurement specialist.Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) Engineering. Accreditation:- Green Star Accredited Professional (GSAP).- Future Green Leader.Projects:- Central Station - Green Star, ISCA, Innovation- Stockland - Glendale - Outdoor Thermal Comfort analysis- Fraser Property Australia - Outdoor Thermal Comfort analysis- Holiday Inn Express - Melbourne - Section J Modelling - Northside Clinic - Green Star Self Assessment- Arc by Crown - Section J Modelling & BASIX- Target Warehouse, Moorebank Logistics Park - Green Star modelling & Section J modelling- Stockland Ingleburn Warehouses - Section J modelling- Santai Casuarina Beach - Bulk air flow modelling, weather analysis, embodied energySustainable ProcurementClients:- City of Sydney - Supply Chain Mapping for the Sustainable Destination Partnership- Transurban - Sustainable Procurement Strategy - UNSW - Sustainable Procurement Strategy- Taronga Zoo - Sustainable Procurement Strategy- Laing O'Rourke for Central Station - sustainable procurement and supply chain
  • Australian Native Remedies
    Co-Founder
Australian Native Remedies Nov 2018 - Mar 2019
    Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
Indentified an opportunity in the Daigou market for Australian skincare made from natural ingredients.Developed 3 different skincare products and presented them to a Sino-Australian oral hygiene company while selling them at farmers markets.Managed to sell-out the first batch of 300 pots of body and face cream for $10,000.After careful consideration we decided to stop because of our lack of understanding of the Daigou market and the difficulty of penetrating this overcrowded space. The main takeaway from this job was that the customer is the key to the success of any business, understanding them and their story is what creates great products, brand loyalty and ultimate business success.
  • La Boulangerie Market
    Co-Founder
La Boulangerie Market Mar 2016 - Feb 2017
    Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
Bought imported frozen baked goods from France, cooked them and sold them in Australian farmer’s markets.Grew revenue from $0 to $20,000 monthly in 3 months with gross profit margins averaging 80%.To grow further we developed a business-in-a-box model by renting market stalls to entrepreneurs and selling them the imported frozen goods.Eventually sold the business to a bakery as we got bored of selling bread and croissants.
  • Qantas
    Project Lead
    Qantas Dec 2015 - Dec 2016
    Sydney, Australia
This project started off as my thesis and then became my internship at Qantas. I was lucky enough to have been introduced to Qantas' CEO of Engineering who trusted me to lead the research behind this project. The mission was to reduce the energy bills of the HDF Mercy Centre, an orphanage in the slums of Bangkok. To do so I went to live in the orphanage for 2 weeks, picked up all the necessary documents, installed measuring equipment and learnt how the workers and children used the space. I learnt the space was more than just an orphanage, it was a school, a haven for women escaping domestic abuse and a treatment centre for people with aids. Back in Sydney, I studied the different technologies and selected those best suited to the users and climate. I then created a digital twin of the building and ran parametric analyses to determine which ones would work best. The project attracted AU$100k in donations. A couple years after the implementation their energy bills were reduced by 63%.Here are a few key points:- Energy consumption analysis through computer modelling (Openstudio & SketchUp)- Successfully proved a variety of energy saving and generation methods tailored to the charity's main office in Bangkok.- Project received close to AU$100,000 in donations from the Australian Embassy in Thailand, Qantas and Fujitsu Computers.- Since 2017 the Mercy Centre has reduced their monthly energy bills by 63%. Precious funds that can be used to take care of the community.
