Oliver Meth is an award-winning Journalist, Media Strategist, Writer, Copy-editor and Project Manager. In 2020, Oliver held the Organised Crime & Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) Fellowship, where he exposed how the shadow world of money and power operates and intersects with everyday life.In 2017, Oliver worked as Media Consultant for President Cyril Ramaphosa's #CR17 ANC Presidential campaign that ascended Ramaphosa to leader of the party and ultimately President of South Africa.In 2016, he held the International Reporting Project Fellowship run by the John Hopkins University’s School of International Studies, examining the intersectionalities of race, class and gender within the young-emerging social movements. He has been a rapporteur for local government and higher education institutes at major conferences and co-authored a number of commissioned reports on West, East and Southern Africa’s media reporting of LGBT, SRHR and Queer Feminism in Africa.In 2010, he was awarded by the Knight Center for International Media at the University of Miami School of Communication, in the student category award for ‘Online Video Journalism’ at the Online Journalism Awards, administered by the Online News Association for his documentary film, Pollution Is Political, that focuses on a multiracial community south of Durban that live cheek by jowl with petrochemical industries.In 2008, Oliver won Best Feature Documentary at the Amnesty International Human Rights Award, for his film, titled ‘We Are Here’ – documenting the plight of Congolese refugees under attack during the Xenophobia outbreak in Durban.His academic work, commissioned by the Centre for the Study of Violence & Reconciliation, titled ‘#Hashtag: An analysis of #FeesMustFall at South African universities’ (page 94) is available online, as well as a GenderLinks report on media’s role in reporting on LGBTIQA+ issues in Southern Africa, while also contributing to several local and international media outlets.Oliver has worked as a Journalist & Producer for various media outlets before diving into the development space, consulting for various United Nations (UN) agencies - generating and executing project, communications, advocacy and stakeholder engagement plans to advance the organisation's programmes with all relevant partners and community networks.Contact detailsolivermeth@gmail.com
