We intercept food that would otherwise go to waste and use it to produce healthy meals for the whole community. We raise awareness about food waste and climate change and provide practical solutions for reducing the amount of food that is wasted.

Key Task: Revision and updating of the 20-year National Water Master Plan. - Modelled water resources, supply and demand using computer-based decision making tool WEAP (Water Evaluation and Planning) in order to test future demand and resource management scenarios.- Review of data collection procedures in the Ministry.- Development of web-based knowledge management system for the Ministry.- Organisation and delivery of staff training in the use of decision support tool.

Key Task: Organisational review of Water User Associations.- Support with establishment of a new Unit in the Jordan Valley Authority for contract monitoring and project development.- Provision of advice on monitoring and and evaluation framework for Water User Associations.- Review of legaslative framework for Water User Associations.

Key Task: Provision of advice to local authorities on improving the efficiency and effectiveness of their municipal recycling services.- Advice to over 35 UK local authorities covering: service appraisal, modelling collection services, recommendations on operational and strategic options, monitoring and evaluation, procurement and contract management.- Technical management of national benchmarking project of recycling performance in England and Wales. Data used to inform welsh national recycling strategy.- Adviser to the steering group of the North-east Waste Awareness Initiaitive.

Key Task: Management support to a new NGO providing support to women's craft organisations.- Identification of new partners and funders.- Development of business plan and associated organisational training.

Key Task: Development and implementation of waste management strategy for waste and reycling services for local authority of 37,000 households.- Preparation of Council's five-year waste management strategy.- Oversaw introduction of new borough-wide kerbside recycling service.- Submission of successful applications to local and national funds to establish a trial garden waste recycling scheme and a unique community recycling project capacity building project.- Technical advice to Contract Services.- Member of Steering Committee of the North-East Recycling Forum providing networking opportunities for the private, public and community recycling sector in the North-East of England.

Key Task: Facilitating community-led environmental regeneration projects through capacity building and project management.- Supported over 25 community groups to undertake specific environmental improvement projects by helping to identify project priorities through stakeholder engagement, guiding groups through project planning, budgeting and fund raising.- Co-ordination of 'Sustainable Communities' Project to enable community projects to share good practice through workshops, presentations, newsletters and an annual conference.- Development of sustainability appraisal mechanism to identify projects for support.- Successsful submission to National Lotteries Charities Board for Community Allotment Project to provide opportunities to use allotments as a vehicle for health improvement through healthy eating, exercise and community engagement.

Key Task: Running a community recycling business with £250,000 annual turnover serving 55,000 households and over 200 schools and businesses.- Preparation and delivery of business plan including introduction of new kerbside services upgrading from twin material scheme with bags to multi material box scheme. - Service development, securing funding and material supply contracts.- Development of partnership with Gwent Probation Services to provide placements for offenders serving community orders.- Liaision with local authority officers for exchange of information, communications and development of a service level agreement.

Key Task: Managing the engineering element of an integrated $500,000 public-health project for internally displaced people.- Provision of shelter, water and sanitation for over 90 accommodation facilities for internally displaced people.- Technical and managerial support to team of eight local engineers working in partnership with local authorities, private contractors other NGOs and the benficiaries.- Appraisal and needs assessments of buildings to identify priorities for support.- Preparation and submission of successful project proposals to UNHCR and ECHO for two year $1million extension to the project.

Key Task: Management of a new public health department comprising 92 staff responsible for street cleansing, municipal sanitation services and food premises health inspections.- Re-organisation of city cleansing staff into locally managed area-based teams.- Preparation of departmental £80,000 business plan for submission to World Bank advisers.- Development of new partnership with local youth groups, market traders, fire force and other Council departments to undertake city cleaning activities.- Design and delivery of one-year training course for department's public health officers.- Organisation of City Council's monthly 'National Cleaning Day' activities.
