Started working at Liberty Life in 1989 as a junior clerk. Promoted to senior clerk within 6 months and to Section Head in 1991. In 1993 I was promoted to Team Leader and 3 years later Team Leader of Multiple Teams. In 2000 I made the level of Assistant Manager. After about a year Liberty decided to flatten structures and I was given the opportunity to apply for one of 2 Manager positions which I declined for personal reasons as it would entail travelling. I have knowledge of all fassets of administering a scheme. That would include loading new membership, checking eligibility conditions, withdrawals, retirements and death claims, scheme revisions, terminations, S14 etc. I moved out of admin around 2005 to become a senior claims assessor. After one year accepted the challenge to become part of the death claims recommendations team. I have a good knowledge of S37C of the act, and my daily tasks involve making recommendations on and signing off distribution decisions. I deal directly with the Trustee sub-committee and work closely with them to make allocations in line with the act. I also prepare trustee reports weekly, monthly and quarterly, and I investigate and respond to PFA (Pensions Fund Adjudicator) and Ombuds responses. I also play a role in mentoring and coaching other team members. .
