As a technology and transformation consultant I am passionate about helping to deliver the most complex and technically demanding programmes for Defence. I want to inspire and help organisations to deliver competitive techological advantage at pace to help secure a safer, better future.

I led the day-to-day operations and managed the resources, risks and outputs of an organisation of 400 soldiers with a geographical area covering Wales, the South West and the West Midlands. On starting this role I immediately re-assessed the organisational priorities and implemented changes that led to improved performance. These changes include implementing new data focussed board level control mechanisms over people, resource, communications, and finance. I empowered and mentored team members to drive cultural change through inclusive and empathetic leadership.

As the Project Manager for a major international complex weapons Assessment Phase I delivered the project scope to Time, Quality and Cost within an extremely challenging project environment. I managed multiple international stakeholders across governments and industry. As the customer champion and senior officer responsible for requirements, I defined and drafted Army requirements for complex weapons projects including long range precision strike and anti-tank missile systems. I defined the Key User Requirements for a £500 million complex weapons project of strategic importance.

I enabled operations for UK’s Somalia strategy. In this role I also advised Permanent Joint Headquarters and informed local strategy. I managed relationships with the British Embassy, local customs and border agencies and Non-Governmental Organisations to facilitate support operations and training activity. I established host nation support and in-country resources and assured and ensured appropriate contracts. In this role I implemented a novel Government Owned Contractor Operated model to provide real life support and secure for UK forces that brought about significant operational savings that put UK strategy on a sustainable financial position.

As a Battery Commander in the Royal Artillery I led a team of 120 highly trained soldiers and officers through a period of demanding operational outputs and strategic change. I led the planning, provided advice to and and inetgrated all joint fires capabilities from Battle Group (tactical) to Divisional (operational/strategic) level operations in support of NATO's vanguard high readiness Battle Group. In this role I also formulated and communicated a vision for the team, and developed and executed the team strategy. This included all aspects of training and operational leadership. I led the team through a demanding training cycle to become part of NATOs Very High Readiness Joint Task Force, a period that included short notice deployments in support of strategic objectives. During my tenure I led a major change programme and redesigned the team operating model and introduced new personnel, equipment, and working methods. I led the design and implementation of individual and collective training and development programmes. This also included a 30% change and re-investment of manpower from across the team. I did this against a set of unmovable deadlines as a pivotal part within a major organisational change programme.

After completing Staff College I was selected to complete an Executive MBA at ACSB, AMBA and the EQUIS accredited Cranfield University. Whilst completing my studies I was the lead UK planner in a multi-disciplinary team responsible for setting policy and strategic/operational direction for a high readiness Multi-National Headquarters responsible for directing NATO Joint Operations. I was instrumental within the organisation to deliver significant change programmes and planning iterations to deliver operations in diverse environments.

I undertook a range of demanding posts at progressively senior levels requiring strong leadership, management and effective Human Resources skills all underpinned by excellent communication. My early operational leadership experience was with highly trained soldiers operating technically advanced equipment in the most demanding environments. I completed operational tours of Iraq (STA Troop Command 2007) and Afghanistan (MLRS Troop Command 2008, Fire Support Team Command 2010). I was selected for promotion amongst the best of my peer group after completing 9 months as executive assistant (Military Assistant) to the Commander of a 4000-strong multi-disciplinary organisation that sustained UK forces in Afghanistan (MA Comd JFSP 2012).
