Supporting the group leadership, I have been heavily involved with supporting business development across a number of key areas. As the group moves towards meeting its sustainable development goal targets as well as expanding it's UK footprint, I have been involved in projects around brining in new business as well as developing platforms to help continue existing relationships with key stakeholders. Teamwork partner with many prestigious brands in various sectors, and have built a huge reputation within the Facilities Management industry. Key partners include Alexandra Palace, Gatwick Airport, Heathrow Airport and Chiltern Railways.

Working within the Business, Change and Automation Team within Technology, my role has been taking a lead in discovery projects to understand the viability of different solutions to problem statements across the business (As well as understanding the business appetite for a solution). The role has required cross-functional engagement with the aim of offering my expertise to projects within data analytics, automation, digital and general change.Core role functions - Innovation: Working at the forefront of strategic transformation initiatives. Leading and identifying desirable, feasible and valid solutions to business problems.Data Driven: Using data analytics to develop high level business cases incorporating business benefits and cost. Turning complex data into actionable insights. Stakeholder Engagement: Maintaining and building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This has included working with external consultancies such as BCG and KPMG.Leadership: Running proof of concepts in order to test, learn and adapt (where applicable) and gain approval of proposals before passing over to the delivery team/s. Guidance: Helping form the team/s and approach. Taking a lead in steering the direction of a project. Continuous improvement: Proactively identifying opportunities to add value for the business and our customers throughout project journeys.

I joined Direct Line Group as part of the Graduate Leadership programme having been offered a role after completing various assessment centres throughout the summer of 2018. The programme incorporated a selection of placements throughout the business as well as providing successful applicants with leadership development training throughout the duration of the scheme. I spent 12 months as a Business Analyst working within DLG Legal Services, 12 months within Pricing and Underwriting and my final 12 months on the programme working as a Public Affairs Executive reporting to the group director or Corporate Affairs and Sustainability. I was heavily involved in the production of the group annual report and annual sustainability report when I was working within the Public Affairs function. The diverse nature of the programme means that I have been able to gain a strong understanding of the wider mechanics of a large FTSE business, something that I believe not many people get to experience.

Extended placement during my time at university working with the UK Trade & Investment Team as well as the political section at the British Embassy in Cairo. I worked on a project around the London Olympic games legacy as well as supported visits of significant political figures, including the Foreign Secretary.
