Root & Branch is a green software consultancy based in Brighton, England. We help organisations reduce their digital carbon footprint through energy-efficient software solutions.

Paper Plane Software is my one-man-band software consultancy. I specialise in helping start-ups develop tech demos, MVP's and early versions of their products.

Kite Power Solutions (now Kite Power Systems) is a green tech startup developing a new wind turbine using kites to capture wind energy.Kite Power Solutions contracted me to architect and develop a Scala based system for managing the ground station and winch that controlled two independent, autonomously controlled kites.The system was developed using Akka's actor model and remoting to create a distributed application running on several computers in the control station and winch.

Head of software production. Currently designing and implementing Animazoo's operating software (Animaview 2.0). Animaview 2.0 is a modular software application used for capturing animations and biomechanical data. A part from it's primary purpose (motion capture) it can also be used to visualise and clean animations. I designed Animaview 2.0 so that it could be easily extended by third party developers, it makes extensive use of the NetBeans RCP platform to acheive this.Whilst at Animazoo I have also been responsible for developing the software to control a digital puppet product developed by Animazoo's sister company AnimaLive. The application I developed interacts with digital characters and other stage equipment via MIDI signals.

I taught 6 one hour seminars a week on the Software Engineering course. The seminars covered Object-Orientation, UML, Design Patterns and Project Management.I also conducted three lectures on MVC in web development.

I worked as a Software Engineer on several projects whilst in Dr White's lab:eMove: The goal of this project was to develop games and game development tools for the eMove motion capture suit - a low cost exoskeleton suit developed by Animazoo.Reanimating Cultural Heritage: I designed and developed the back-end of sierraleoneheritage.org. A website designed to act as an online museum for sierra leone.

I worked within a small team developing a new product for a major client; Gamma. The product was a web application developed in Java using the Struts web framework. It made extensive use of Hibernate, BPEL for high level control of the system and XML/XSTL for passing messages to BT web services.
