Responsibilities include:• Ensuring achievement of targeted academic results, including measurable achievement gains on math, literacy, and science assessments;• Developing and sustaining a program culture consistent with Breakthrough’s expectations, principles, and tools;• Setting unrelentingly high expectations for student and teacher performance and providing the support, encouragement, and accountability critical to achieving those expectations;• Serving as the key external spokesperson for the Breakthrough Birmingham program, conveying Breakthrough’s mission and building strong relationships with all constituents, including students, teachers, parents, community members, donors, and other stakeholders;• Forging local partnerships to support Breakthrough students through high school and Breakthrough intern teachers on their paths into teaching;• Working closely with the Breakthrough Advisory Board, engaging them individually and collectively, and preparing and delivering regular progress reports;• Overseeing Breakthrough Birmingham program operations, including talent, finance, and compliance functions,to achieve ambitious goals and growth plans;• Recruiting, training, and supervising instructional coaches, intern teachers, volunteer teaching assistants, and students annually;• Providing regular performance reviews for all program staff.

• Served as Co-Director of the Dover Legacy Scholars Program. The aim of this program is to foster a culture of high academic achievement among students of African descent;• Established and implemented The National Student Clearinghouse student tracking system for all high schools in the Newton Public School System, which tracks graduates’ success in post-secondary education;• Gained valuable practical knowledge on the daily operations of a secondary school with a population of 1800 students. Information ascertained includes student discipline, attendance, effective hiring practices and staff evaluation, staff development and cohesiveness, and instructional leadership.

• Taught Algebra II with Trigonometry and Pre-Calculus to students in grades 10-12;• Facilitated a learning environment that taught critical thinking skills and used mathematics as an application to daily life; • Supported Head Coach with practice and game implementation;• Performed minor administrative duties;• Maintained equipment.
