As Chief Legal Counsel, NBCUniversal International I am based in London and report jointly to Kevin MacLellan Chariman, Global Distribution and International, and to Kim Harris (Executive Vice President & General Counsel, NBCUniversal). I am responsible for oversight of the international Networks and Studios legal teams, serve as a central point of contact on international legal issues for NBCUniversal businesses and act as a cross-business leader for the international legal community. In my previous role, I focused wholly on the international channels business of NBCUniversal in all regions outside North America, leading our team of legal/compliance personnel based in London, Miami, Singapore, Sydney, Paris, Munich and Madrid. Since beginning in the role in 2005, the Networks business has grown from 5 channels to a suite of global brands reaching 165 territories in 35 different languages across EMEA, Latin America and Asia.Distribution deals with platform partners are a key area of focus for the Networks legal team – along with acquisitions/production, regulatory support, technical operations, advertising sales, social media and marketing. We also support our digital businesses including the launch of our direct-to-consumer SVOD service, hayu. We collaborate closely with NBCUniversal’s parent company, Comcast Corporation, on international acquisitions and joint ventures, which have most recently focused on Australasia, Brazil and Spanish Latin America.
