  Case Study 1 – Due Diligence Our client was an investment firm that received a debt proposal on highly lucrative terms. Our client was an investment firm that received a low interest debt offer with no collateral from a company incorporated in the Middle East. The offer was thought to be too good to be true, so Oculus were engaged to conduct a due diligence investigation. Using website analytics and open source investigations, Oculus identified a number of red-flags surrounding the proposed offer that questioned the legitimacy of the Middle Eastern company. As a result, Oculus were able to highlight concerns about the legitimacy of the source of funds and therefore raised money laundering concerns. Given the associated risk, our client was able to disengage from the deal and pursue other commercial avenues. Case Study 2 – Litigation Support Our client was an UHNW politician that was the subject of politically motivated litigation in their home country. Oculus were engaged to investigate the motivations behind the litigation and we successfully identified a network of foreign actors with geo-political incentives who held an interest in the case. Using this intelligence and working closely with 9 Bedford Row Chambers in conjunction with our international network, the politically motivated litigation was effectively de-escalated. Case Study 3 – Asset Trace Our client represented a wealthy family that were engaged in a historical inheritance dispute. Oculus were engaged to map out the assets which were attributable to the family and in preparation for legal proceedings. This included property, land, commercial interests and any other tangible or intangible assets. Using our in-house expertise, Oculus were able to provide an extensive chart of attributable assets and provide a comprehensive understanding of the location of the assets, the value of the assets and the likelihood of seizing each asset.
