Oliver drew upon his communication skills and experience to deliver Ministerial briefings at the highest levels of government. His work included producing reports and research papers, such as a position paper for a government Minister on the European Commission’s role in Cyprus.Oliver used his stakeholder management experience when working with politicians and grass-roots organisations to promote the UK’s policy on Cyprus and Greece.

UK Border Agency, assistant private secretary –Oliver worked for the director of an international government agency, for whom he coordinated a wide range of complex operational and policy issues, managing the interface between the organisation and the director, and advising him on the live status of critical events. In addition, he reviewed the organisational design of the private office. For this, Oliver researched and proposed a more change and pressure resilient structure, clearly defined the divide between policy and office administration roles, and increased the capability and efficiency of the office.Oliver also acted as secretariat for the Group’s executive board meetings, and undertook an initiative to review existing governance processes.

David Gauke MP – in addition to coordinating constituency work, Oliver was involved in a research project benchmarking spending by regional police forces on linguistic interpreters. Oliver applied his MSc-gained knowledge of advanced statistical techniques to extract relevant information for the MP to use in Parliament.
