Executive oversight of Arapahoe Libraries which serves 250,000 patrons and includes eight community libraries, a jail library and a Library on Wheels in Arapahoe County, Colorado. Primary responsibilities include creating the strategic direction of the organization, oversight of the $33 million budget, and 300 employees. Recent AccomplishmentsThe Establishment of a collaborative culture by bringing increased transparency to leadership and inclusiveness in decision-making. This was achieved in part by flattening communication between leadership and staff in order to foster trust and to create a culture where ideas can be discussed by all levels of the organization.The introduction of the project management approach to the workflow by hiring experienced project management to our leadership team.A change in the budgeting philosophy that clearly identifies operational costs in order to more effectively manage long-term budgeting opportunities and risks.

Principal visionary for technological service and strategyOversee collection and materials processing department$8 plus million budget.Significant ProjectsLibrary as Showroom - Program that exposes library users to first-generation and beta technologies. Technologies such as Google Glass, Oculus Rift, iBeam and Finch Robots, GoPro Cameras, 3-D printers, Media Studios and Makerspaces have been offered to library patrons. This program resulted in two national awards. Technology Specialists - Developed a team of specialists to address patron technology needs within the library branches as well as outside events such as Tech Roadshows at local businesses and events like Denver Comicon and Makerfaire Denver. This project has been wildly successful with patrons and has often been described as the single best customer service decision that the district has ever made.Electronic Media - By fostering continued investment in different electronic media platforms the Arapahoe Library District was able to stabilize a trend of falling circulation. Double-digit losses in annual circulation were eventually offset by electronic media circulation. Several different platforms were implemented to offer library patrons downloadable audio and ebooks, and streaming music and video.
