I built upon the work conducted during my Junior Research Associate internship and lead the further development of a method to population map Myotis bechsteinii using SNPs from DNA extracted from lesser quality samples. This work was primarily now using Next Generation Sequencing on the Illumina MiSeq platform to produce data which would then be analyzed.

I took part in the competitive University of Sussex Junior Research Associate scheme under the supervision of Tony Carr and Fiona Matthews. The project aimed to develop a method to map the population of Myotis bechsteinii through SNPs in DNA samples extracted from lesser quality samples. The project involved the use of various techniques including PCR, Gel Electrophoresis, Next Generation Sequencing and data analysis allowing for me to develop my technical skills.
