Interviewed and successfully obtained a two-month secondment to PwC's Market Value Direct department. Market Value Direct is a FinTech business, that provides tech-enabled valuation services to PwC clients with securities and derivatives. My responsibilities included:- Modelling complex commodity contracts to perform an independent valuation for a global investment bank.- Performing an independent valuation of complex instruments such as margin loans, as well as more vanilla instruments such as forwards, swaps and futures.

Experience Includes:- Performed a valuation review for over illiquid private equity positions held by Goldman Sachs,which were valued using income and market approaches.- Interviewed and successfully obtained a highly competitive two month secondment to PwC’s Market Value Direct (MVD) team to work on valuing illiquid debt positions and derivative instruments.- Worked closely with PwC's Valuation Department to perform a financial reporting valuation review of Goldman's largest private equity investments in the EMEA region.- Significant experience auditing the equities, funding and MBD desks for Goldman Sachs. Particular focus on repos, synthetic products, funded collar trades and derivatives of varying complexity.- Proactively collaborated with PwC’s Intelligent Automation team to develop a bot that automated mechanic tasks on the audit for Goldman Sachs, which will save at least 100 hours of work a year.- Developed several Alteryx workflows to significantly increase the efficiency of sample selection across multiple areas of the audit for Goldman Sachs, reducing the cost for future audits.- Provided several team-wide training sessions on the uses and functionality of client systems to improve the efficiency of the audit.

My first five weeks were spent in external audit, where one of my tasks was independently auditing several head office companies for PwC’s largest audit client in the North West region. I also carrying out various other substantive processes pivotal in the engagements completion. In my final week, I worked in the energy sector, carrying out various tests on a wind farm subsidiary of a private equity firm, as well as shadowing a manager in the sustainability and climate change sector.

My role involves finding new opportunities for the company's growth. This includes looking for new potential clients, meeting potential suppliers about new products that are suitable for the Ugandan market, and developing market strategies.

They help small-medium enterprises to grow and provide a stable and sustainable income for communities in lower-income countries to bring about economic empowerment.I spent my time in Uganda analysing the business performance of a small-medium enterprise. I was able to proactively support business development by suggesting and implementing strategy improvements for the company, such as how the company could capitalise on the technical advancements of mobile money in Africa. I also sought out potential investment for the company, by putting together a portfolio of analysis which was put on the Challenges marketplace, where it would be presentable to potential investors, such as AgDevCo, ManoCap and ACRE.
