I am a highly ambitious researcher who combines academic and industrial experience to develop societally relevant insights from ocean-climate data. As a D.Phil. student at the University of Oxford, my current research focuses on the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation, which plays a critical role in the global climate system through the uptake and redistribution of heat, freshwater and carbon. Using Lagrangian particle tracking within numerical ocean models, I trace the 3-dimensional pathways of water masses in the subtropical and subpolar North Atlantic, developing novel diagnostics to explore how the total light-to-dense transformation of water measured at the basin-scale is distributed across the individual currents of the North Atlantic Ocean. I am also an active contributor to the NSF-NERC international research program SNAP-DRAGON, which seeks to improve our understanding of the changes in the subpolar North Atlantic overturning circulation.I’ve also had a longstanding interest in the modelling and communication of weather & climate risks, placing a particular emphasis on tropical cyclone induced storm surges. Throughout my undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, I have undertaken internships as a storm surge researcher at both Hiscox Re and Climate X. During my 3-month internship at Climate X, I worked alongside wind storm and geo-hazard scientist to lead the development of the inaugural Climate X Tropical Cyclone Storm Surge model.Key Skills Summary:———————————Modelling and Data Analysis, including: + Python (pandas, polars, xarray, scipy)+ Fortran (TRACMASS)+ High-Performance Computing (JASMIN)+ MATLAB+ R + TableauTeaching and Administration, including:+ Co-Supervisor of 4th year undergraduate research project+ Tutor & Demonstrator @ University of Oxford+ Student Representative on Oxford NERC Doctoral Training Program Management Committee+ GCSE & A-Level Science Tutoring+ Duke of Edinburgh Expedition SupervisorScience Communication & Outreach, including:+ Delivered talk @ UN Decade of the Oceans Event & UK Challenger Ocean Science Meeting+ Presented research poster @ US AMOC & Royal Society AMOC Meetings+ Collaborated on the ABC Artist in Residency Program exploring coral reef connectivity+ Participated in Creative Climate Workshop @ University of OxfordInternships in Academia and Industry, including:+ Tropical Cyclone Scientist Intern @ Climate X+ Storm Surge Catastrophe Modelling Intern @ Hiscox Re+ Sea Ice Research Intern @ University of East Anglia
