The Manufacturing Leadership Program with W.R. Grace is a three year engineering program. Each year in the program is spent at a different Grace site in a different function.

For my 2nd rotation in Grace's Manufacturing Leadership Program I was the production engineer for the DA Fluid Cracking Catalyst (FCC) plant in Lake Charles, LA.

Together with a team of 4 people, we designed a HVAC dehumidification system powered by solar energy to control a house’s indoor relative humidity. I documented the project’s growth in weekly technical reports.I also helped create a CHEMCAD model for a hydrogen processing plant powered by solar energy, and compared its economic productivity with current hydrogen production methods. Data results determined that financial improvements were necessary after analyzing the net present value of the solar powered hydrogen plant.

As a Student Ambassador I engage with prospective UMD families on a one-on-one basis to answer questions and provide a personal and professional experience. While working with Conferences & Visitor Services, I have led over thirty educational tours to groups of 5 to 40 people including professionals, international visitors, and school groups as a tour guide.

My primary responsibilities as an Analytical Lab Intern were to collect spectroscopy data using FTIR (Fourier Transform Infra-Red) and NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) instruments to identify and quantify sample compositions and determine sample consistency. I performed spectroscopy analyses of acquired data to aid in new product development and quality control for fluoropolymer-based samples from the core technology, electronic, fabric, industrial, and medical divisions. From theses analyses I developed technical reports to inform customers on methods used to analyze sample data in an effort to further project growth.I also created a user guide for the FTIR spectroscopy software in the analytical lab to aid new associates in acquisition of spectral data.To conclude my internship I developed a technical report to brief internal customers on methods used to analyze FTIR and NMR data in the hopes that they would be able to better understand data analysis reports.

Remedium is a biotechnology start-up company at the University of Maryland. As an undergraduate research assistant I aided in the development of a military-grade biopolymer intended to limit hemorrhaging in wounded soldiers. Specifically I studied the relationship between biopolymer composition and spray can bubble-lifespan using microscopy to determine whether bubbles play a role in blood coagulation. In order to study this relationship I analyzed microscopy data using ImageJ, an image-processing program, to quantify blood clumping. At the culmination of my research, I concluded that biopolymer composition can affect spray can bubble-lifespan and thus aid in blood coagulation.
