Olivia Cohen is a reporter with Report for America, focusing on energy and environmental reporting. Her newsroom assignment is with the Cedar Rapids Gazette. She has worked as a legal reporting intern and a freelance investigative reporter with Bloomberg Law. She covered legal issues, safety of federal judges, the Supreme Court and federal courts and big law, while working in the D.C. bureau throughout summer 2023. Olivia has freelanced for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Chicago Sun-Times and the Gateway Journalism Review. Olivia was also the executive producer of Newsbeat Chicago. She is an active member with the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ), the Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE), Journalism and Women Symposium (JAWS) and the Online News Association (ONA). She worked at the Columbia Chronicle from August 2021 through May 2024, starting as a staff reporter and working up to editor-in-chief. Olivia has covered many topics at the Chronicle, ranging from college administrators' salaries, Columbia's on-going financial crisis, to a mysterious death on campus.
