I worked part-time at the Bournemouth Electric Club as a bartender. In this role, my confidence improved dramatically, as the job involved communicating and interacting with the public, as well as answering phone calls and answering questions about upcoming or potential events. This job also required me to take initiative and be independent. Overtime, I was able to supervise and train new employees and help them adjust to the work environment. This role allowed me to develop my customer service and hospitality skills, as well as administrative and IT abilities. I was able to prepare mixed drinks, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages within busy timeframes. In addition to serving drinks, I was also able to provide detailed information on beverages, such as new deals, menu changes, and advice. I was able to successfully perform closing duties and was always praised for the cleanliness of the establishment the next morning.

During a gap year, I was employed as an intern at DESC where I undertook several responsibilities. Working initially within a team of Science Technicians, I quickly became a supportive member of the team learning key aspects of efficiency and organisation, assisting in the smooth running of a department of over 20 teaching staff. Further administrative roles, such as working front of house as a receptionist, enabled me to become more independent and resourceful, whilst developing my IT skills and confidence in communicating with the public and all members of staff.
