For three summers, I was a camp counselor at my local YMCA. During this position, I was in charge of children ages ranging from 4- 12 years old. My main focus was to keep the children safe, always being in the right ratio, making sure they were safe in the pool and during other activities, and to stop any bullying that would occur. During the school year, the children from the school district would stay after school for their parents to pick them up, so I would be there to again come up with activities, keep them safe, and help them with homework when needed.

As a Resident Assistant (RA), I supervise over 50 transfer students in apartment-style living at Towson University. My job entails the commonly known role of creating bulletin boards, door tags, and putting on events each month. I attend seminars once a month on different topics to help further educate residents such as on drug and alcohol safety, how to budget money, and how to become more self-aware through restorative practices. I also am responsible for keeping the residents safe mentally and physically and do so by having to be on call for the entire building and being a liaison with the campus police and the health & counseling center.

For the Fall semester of my Junior year, I had the privilege to work alongside forensic analysts for the Maryland Police Department in the Biology Unit. I was able to observe the tests that they perform on the saliva samples of both arrested and convicted offenders, and I also got to watch analysts test evidence from crimes for blood and DNA. I helped around the lab by pulling saliva samples for the tests that they would run, and sealing them back up after the tests were complete. I also scanned case files into their computer server, and input the information into their universal database from the offender fingerprint cards, which I would then file away.
