My goal in pursuing communication studies at the University of Texas at Austin is to become a professor and take part in a career in academia. I hope to do so by completing a masters, followed by a PhD with an emphasis in rhetoric and language. I am constantly intrigued by the underlying ideas and ideologies presented in the media today and would love an opportunity to research and analyze the existing rhetoric in order to change the direction of its current implications. I hope to continue engaging in projects that look at voices of opposition, specifically voices related to nationalism and extremism and their use of both the rhetoric of propaganda and expertise. As a professor, I would have the equal opportunity to continue researching and discovering the effects of rhetoric all while teaching its value to future students. This combination of education and action directly aligns with my goals as a scholar.
