I was a part of the writing team for the Pacific Internship Programs for Exploring Science (PIPES) that gave grammatical and structural feedback on scientific writing and Ka'ao framework for the summer 2022 cohort.

As a summer intern with Dr. Travis Mandel, we worked on an interface that trained an artificial intelligence system while a user annotated images for an object detection model to speed up the data annotation process. I worked with high performance computing systems to optimize this process. This project was funded by NSF

At the University of Hawaii at Hilo, I was a math tutor for students taking Statistics, Trigonometry, Applied Calculus, Pre Calculus, Calculus I, and Calculus II classes. While enrolled as a full-time student, I work 12 hours per week.

As a student research assistant, I processed image data, built Agisoft models of West Hawaii coral reefs, digitized and annotated orthomosaics of Northwestern Hawaiian Islands and Guam coral reefs, and extracted data from GIS for statistical analysis in RStudio.

As a summer MEGA lab intern, I worked with Dr. John Burns and other MEGA lab students in collaboration with NOAA Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center to analyze the demography, vital rates, and habitat metrics of coral species in the Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument. We used 3D photogrammetry tools to reconstruct images of coral reefs in our study sites in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands. We also used geospatial methods, multivariate analyses, and Bayesian statistics to evaluate the characteristics of the corals and predict coral resilience. This project was funded by NSF and EPSCoR.

I was a certified lifeguard through STAR GUARD ELITE. I guarded the pools and lazy river during park hours and dispatched riders on slides.

I was in charge of the register, cleaning the store, folding/hanging clothing items, helping customers with any concerns or questions, and opening/closing the store.
