Worked with Dr. Iliana Baums on a project focusing on the reproduction of the coral species. Porites lobata.The goal of my project is to determine how aragonite saturation states affect the ratio of sexual to asexual reproduction in Porites lobata. P. lobata is known to reproduce both sexually and asexually via fragmentation. There is evidence to suggest that decreases in aragonite saturation states may correspond to increases in the prevalence of asexual reproduction. Knowing how common this form of cloning is will allow for a moreaccurate estimation of how well the reefs will respond to future environmental stressors, such as global warming.90 P. lobata colonies were previously sampled from 5 circular plots on Marchena, Wolf, Floreana, and Isabela Islands in the Galapagos. DNA from the coral tissue has been extracted and will be amplified with 14 coral specific loci. If two colonies have matching alleles at all loci, they are likely clones of each other and were produced asexually.

As an intern with the Penn State Library Office of Scholarly Communication, I described each scrapbook and recording the metadata in a Google spreadsheet. The ultimate goal is to create an online database that is searchable for researchers, students, and faculty. This work is sponsored by a grant from Cheyney University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.The scrapbook collection I worked with contains hundreds of 19th century scrapbooks hand made by an African American Philadelphia man named William H. Dorsey. I served as a cabin counselor and sailing instructor from July of 2010 until August of 2012. My responsibilities included the daily care of my nine cabin campers, the youngest age group of girls on camp, who ranged in age from 8 to 11. From May 2013 until August of 2013, I served as the Pawnee/Navajo Village Chief. The village chief is in charge of managing all of the staff that live and work with the youngest girls on camp, as well as caring for all of the campers in that age group. Responsibilities include setting up village events such as dances and games, helping cabin staff deal with disciplinary problems, and working as a sailing instructor in the afternoons.
