I am Olivia Kish, a driven Cuban-American student at the University of Florida working towards my undergraduate degree in communication sciences and disorders. As a Miami native, I am constantly in motion looking to help, volunteer, and work with others. I seek to make new connections and learn from those around me. Interacting with and thinking about how I can positively impact others is what drives my desire to be a speech pathologist. Making a difference in the lives of children, helping them reach their fullest potential, and empowering them to be the best version of themselves continually motivates my strong work ethic and pushes me to go the extra mile in everything that I do. Through my deaf culture minor, I hope to master sign language and aid deaf children in finding their speaking voice. I hope to work on a healthcare team where I contribute my skills and knowledge to provide patients with optimum treatment plans. The experience of growing up as an identical twin whom the world viewed as a unit with my sibling, laid the foundation for me to be a team player focused on ensuring each member’s voice and input are heard. Moreover, working with children across varying settings has allowed me to become a quick and creative problem solver. Finally, membership in a service sorority continually demonstrates how my time and talents can be used to benefit others.
