• Responsible for the day-to-day running of a critical communications environment, exercising sound analysis and judgment and providing expert advice based on technical expertise.• Primary line management of the control room supervisors and secondary line management of control room operators to ensure the efficient working of the Security Operations Centre (SOC). • Ensure the Controllers maintain the required standard of professionalism, leading by example and appropriately managing behaviours and performance if requirements are not met.• Manage the deployment of staff, to ensure that resources are appropriately and efficiently allocated with due consideration to employee welfare and organisational policy.• Ensure that an appropriate level of training and suitable development opportunities are provided for all control room staff.• Maintain and update a library of standard operating procedures and contingency plans and provide assurance through regular test and exercise that they are understood and followed in order to maintain operational security of the Parliamentary Estate.• Respond efficiently to enquiries from stakeholders including senior managers and policing counterparts and conduct systems and data investigations as required.• Maintain the principles of the Data Protection Act 2018 ensuring all data is kept secure and only released to the appropriate people in line with organisational policy.• Be aware and stay informed on the current threats and mitigations associated with the Estate’s security.• Work closely with security system contractors and project managers to advise on user requirements and ensure normal service is maintained during planned and reactive works. Provide on call support as part of a rota in the event of systems issues.• Maintain close contact with the Physical Security Advisors alerting them to potential vulnerabilities and engage with multidisciplinary project teams in support of project delivery.
