Combining intercultural communications with social impact consultancy might sound strange, so read on to understand the inspiration behind these career choices.Behind both is my deep desire to understand, connect with and (try to) positively impact the lives of different people living in different places.This passion for 'people' - began during my upbringing as the daughter of pub landlords. Early on, I found myself engrossed in the tales of local customers and worldly travellers passing through London, seeking a pint and a friendly conversation.Fuelled by this love of storytelling, I embarked on a 20-year journey in international marketing, working with organisations such as the BBC, CNN, and Visit London/London & Partners. My projects and personal travel took me across the globe, deepening my understanding of different cultures and exposing me to different perspectives.I ventured into the dynamic startup world four years ago to work with people I trust with big brains and even bigger hearts. I'm a Partner at Variety Plus- an intercultural branding and communications agency focused on China. I've lived in Hong Kong and am fascinated by China. Here, I help UK and European brands expand successfully in China and aid Chinese brands with their global expansion plans.I'm also a Managing Partner (UK) with Sowen, a social impact consultancy that uses data and technology to drive positive change for deep-purpose organisations. Drawing on my corporate experience, I help nonprofits measure their impact, optimise operations, and maximise budgets.What drives me is the opportunity to meet new people, hear their stories, and create meaningful connections.
