Worked with a robust network of volunteers in Pennsylvania to advocate for clean air, clean water, open spaces, and a safe and livable climate. Recruited dozens of residents to testify at public hearings in support of clean air in Pittsburgh, trained volunteers to submit more than 50 letters to the editor, supervised and managed a team of 9-13 student interns for 3 semesters, fundraised $22,106 from June-August 2021 as assistant director of a door canvassing campaign in Philadelphia (third highest out of 50+ directors nationwide), co-led a campaign in the Lehigh Valley to build support for action on climate change, organized and spoke at a press conference on air pollution in Pittsburgh in Oct. 2021 covered by 5 media (TV/newspaper) outlets, spoke on local TV channel Night Talk, wrote and published several opinion pieces in local and regional newspapers.

Participated in 8 weeks of classroom training on organization building, media outreach, recruitment, leadership development, strategic campaign planning, coalition building, fundraising, and public speaking. Executed two grassroots environmental campaigns on behalf of Audubon South Carolina (working in Charleston, SC to transition the state’s public utility to 100% clean energy by 2050) and Defenders of Wildlife (leading a campus campaign at the University of Maine to build support for protecting the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge from oil and gas drilling).

Reviewed and summarized studies to inform a paper (in progress) on human population density and urban biodiversity with Dr. Larissa Larsen, involving a research trip to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in summer 2019. Assisted Dr. Richard Norton in creating 2 online “Michigan Sustainability Cases” for land use planning classes focusing on development in high-hazard areas and exclusionary planning.
