Patient's required an assessment and treatment plan creating in under 24 hours post-admission. Patient's would then be seen on a daily basis until they were safe for a discharge home or until they were transferred to a rehabilitation bed. I treated a wide variety of patient's with Neurological conditions including: Guillain-Barré syndrome, Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone Disease, Myasthenia Gravis and Traumatic Brain Injuries. For this group of patient's I would ensure that patient's were discharged from hospital, as close to their baseline prior to admission. If this was not possible I would refer patient's to further rehabilitation inpatient beds, or where possible, to continue their rehabilitation at home. January 2018-April 2018: Trauma and Orthopaedics:Throughout this rotation I met a wide variety of patient groups. This involved treating patient's following: fractured Neck of Femurs, higher risk joint replacements due to co-morbidities, back pain patient's, 1st and 2nd stage revision patient's, non-weight baring patient's following fractures as well as spinal surgery patient's. I began to gain a better understanding of reading x-rays and MRI scans on this rotation. Show less
