I serve as point for the Body project workshop which is a multi-part class that improves body image in women. My main duties are training and coordinating facilitators, scheduling classes, and organizing materials for the programs. I also prepare and run monthly meetings for continued facilitator education. Office management is another facet of my job. I provide administrative and technical support for new outreach programs and edit current workshops to best meet the students’ needs.

I developed a resource for Boy Scouts and young adults. I researched the target population and developed a webpage that would be accessible and engaging to them. To reach children and parents, I wrote blog posts from the point of view of our mascot. This allowed me to translate technical jargon into something kids would enjoy hearing, and that would assuage their fears of vaccines. I also created social media graphics for important events to promote vaccination in Virginians.

I assisted with existing projects aimed at developing novel antimicrobial treatments. My project specifically focused on constructing Acinetobacter baumannii PilB in pET-22b (+). This project was created to overcome the growing risk of antibiotic resistance. I performed a variety of laboratory tasks including, DNA purification, plasmid synthesis, gel electrophoresis, and transformation protocols. To accomplish my task, I needed to identify the correct clones and transform them into the expression strain.
