I am an alum from the University of San Diego with a BA in English. I double minored in French and Francophone Studies and Medieval and Renaissance Studies, and I aim to earn a PhD in Literature. In this higher education vein, I was an undergraduate researcher at USD. My research concerns the patterns and impacts of literature inspired by past pandemics and apocalyptic times such as but not limited to the Black Death and the 1918 Spanish Influenza and World Wars. I am passionate about poetry and prose, and I've been highly engaged in the English Department and literary culture on campus. Indeed, I was the Editor-in-Chief of the Alcalá Review from Fall 2021 to Spring 2023. The Alcalá Review is the University of San Diego's official literary journal, an annual print publication that features student works of nonfiction, fiction, poetry, photography, and visual art. Additionally, I was one of two Coordinators at the USD Writing Center for my senior year and a Coordinator-in-Training my junior year. As a consultant, I mentored other students in their writing and communication skills. As Coordinator, I exercised and enhanced my leadership skills by assisting the other consultants, presenting on mentoring and writing techniques, and communicating with students and staff. I was elected Membership Officer of Alpha Nu Mu, USD's chapter of the International English Honors Society, Sigma Tau Delta. Through my role, I worked to expand the number of English majors at USD, creating a more inclusive and diverse literature community on campus. I advertised our organization and assisted the rest of the executive board in welcoming new members, organizing philanthropic and mixer events, and conducting professional development workshops.I am also a lover of the French language and culture as shown in my involvement in USD's French and Francophone Studies (FFS) Club in which I served as co-Vice President. The FFS Club organizes and facilitates cultural activities that pertain to French and/or francophone cultures, educating students and providing a well-rounded and engaging experience to supplement learning. My choice of minor and involvement in this club allowed me to develop my skills in the french language, french and francophone cultural awareness, presentation, public speaking, organizational, and leadership skills.
