Whilst working at Morisons I have acquired a number of skills. As this was my first job it helped me grow in confidence and develop skills in communicating, people skills and working under pressure. Even though I am only a sales assistant this job moulded me into the hard worker and conscientious person I am today.

During my first year of study I had the opportunity to participate in Shell Eco Car; this competition gave me a wide range of skills and experiences such as; the design and building of two vehicles, teamwork, working well under extreme pressure and deadlines as well as others. During this time I had the amazing opportunity to work alongside professionals at EPM, a composites company, as one of our innovative features on the cars were that they were made of carbon fibre. I was part of the team who were hands on making the bodies from the start, giving me a unique set of manufacturing skills and knowledge as I worked from cutting out the foam for the fibre-glass mould to laying the carbon fibre sheets and watching the body in the autoclave. I plan on continuing working with the team through my second year to gain more knowledge of efficiency in engines and brakes to secure a successful car for the event.
