I’m a driven and high performing senior leader with over 25 years’ experience in growing both business results and people.A pragmatic, straight talker, I love working with businesses to help grow their sales, margins and overall results. As a business owner for over 14 years, there aren't many situations I haven't experienced or challenges I haven't had to overcome.I started my business career as a grad on the Mainfreight graduate programme where I learnt the true meaning of teamwork, that simple is best, and to make decisions. My career since has spanned both the public and private sectors, in sales, marketing and leadership roles, both as a team member and as a business owner. In my varied career I have gained a good understanding of the importance of developing and executing effective strategy, creating a culture where people want to come to work and give their best, of building key stakeholder relationships and partnerships to achieve success, the importance of strong decision making, and the need for sound financial management. While a lot of my time now is focused on guiding and coaching teams, I do love to stay close to the action and get my hands dirty where I can. I am driven to achieve targets and understand that revenue is no good without margin! I believe everyone, regardless of their title is a salesperson and I enjoy building relationships based on credibility and trust and demonstrating value with all stakeholders. There is nothing better than the thrill of winning a new piece of business (except maybe winning the next piece with the same client and then them referring me to someone else!).With my marketing hat on, I believe marketing is a strategic activity – the process of creating, communicating, and delivering products and services to all stakeholders with the aim of satisfying their needs and exceeding expectations - not just the colouring-in department! Operationally, I like to get (the right) stuff done! I can forecast and manage revenue and cost budgets, design and develop processes, manage projects and have difficult conversations.
