My unwavering passion for medicine has been a driving force in my life. As a minority woman, I am inspired to not only practice medicine, but to use the knowledge and skills I acquire to advocate for my patients and community alike, promoting equity in healthcare. Following my undergraduate studies, I pursued a Master of Science in Health and Well-being Management to deepen my understanding of the intersection between patient care, public health, research, program implementation and dissemination, and healthcare administration. Armed with this knowledge, I desire to spearhead initiatives aimed at encouraging systemic change and improving access to specialized healthcare and health literacy. As a medical student at UR medicine, I have become passionate about the field of child neurology. Aside from the fascinating intricacies of the human brain, the opportunity to work with both parents and children in a pediatrics speciality is uniquely rewarding. As I approach graduation, I look forward to becoming a pediatric neurologist who strives to work collaboratively and openly with families, demystifying complex medical scenarios. Moreover, I have fostered my love for medical education as a curriculum designer and a master instructor for the STEP up to Medicine program at UR Medicine. In these roles, I combine my passion for medicine and education to create and deliver engaging and medically inclined courses to underrepresented middle and high school students. In coordinating activities, laboratories, examinations, and other learning opportunities, I hope to inspire the next generation of health professionals.
