I worked with the City of Ithaca (Certified Local Government), Historic Ithaca, and another preservation consultant to complete an architectural survey for the expansion of the National Register-listed East Hill Historic District in Ithaca, New York. The project was made possible through the CLG Grant through the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation. The expansion included 19 properties along three streets. Each property requires extensive research and documentation compiled into a well-written narrative which highlights each building's architecture, history, and significance.Responsibilities/Accomplishments:- I wrote architectural descriptions for each of the 19 properties.- I developed historical narratives for 11 properties, which required analysis of Sanborn Fire Insurance maps and Bird's Eye View maps. In addition, I utilized city directories, deed records, and census material to create a better understanding of each property.- I photographed each property to include in the survey.- I attended and participated in meetings with the local preservation planner, Historic Ithaca, and the other consultant and provided updates on my progress.

For the Fall 2018 semester, I served as a teaching assistant within Cornell University's College of Architecture, Art, and Planning. I worked with the first-year preservation students on a survey project in Binghamton, New York. This experience has provided me with the opportunity to apply knowledge from previous semesters and in the real world. By serving as a teaching assistant, I was able to help students understand the research process for historic structures, the documentation of those structures, and how to identify their significance.Responsibilities/Accomplishments:- Delivered lectures to students about historic resources available to them- Provided material and support to students as they researched their individual properties

During the summer of 2018, I spent a portion of my time working with EDR. My position as assistant cultural resources specialist was extremely beneficial for my development as a professional in the field of historic preservation. I worked with highly qualified professionals on several projects as they guided me through the steps of Section 106 work. Many of the projects were related to the construction of solar and wind farms.Responsibilities/Accomplishments:- Researched and wrote historic contexts for Orange County, New York and Middletown, Wallkill, and Washingtonville, New York- Completed a Findings Documentation report for a street improvement project in Rochester, New York- Completed a Section 106 Project Submittal Package for a sidewalk project in Ithaca, New York- Completed a Determination of Eligibility for several properties as part of a solar project in Maryland

From January to May 2018, I served as the exhibits coordinator for the Department of City & Regional Planning. I worked directly with the exhibitions committee, exhibit creators, and Department Chair in order to display work by current students, faculty, and guests.Responsibilities/Accomplishments:- Coordinated and scheduled exhibits with students, faculty, and guests- Installed seven exhibits throughout the semester- Acted as the immediate point of contact for those interested in having their work featured as an exhibit- Worked directly with students to form cohesive exhibits on their research

From August 2017 to December 2017, my task was to compile historical research, specifically agricultural census material from Elmira, New York. The focus for this research was centered around John W. Jones, a prominent African American citizen in Elmira during the nineteenth century. The research gathered supported a Spring 2018 course entitled "Museums and the Public Sphere," which focused on creating a strategic plan for the newly established John W. Jones Museum. I worked directly with Professor Michael Tomlan.Responsibilities/Accomplishments:- Complied agricultural census material from Elmira, Chemung County, New York from 1840 to 1940- Compiled agricultural census material for the farm owned by John W. Jones from 1880 to 1890

At Port Washington State Bank I assisted customers with their basic banking needs such as deposits, withdrawals, and ensuring the customer was satisfied. This position provided me with the development of intrapersonal skills in dealing with issues that came up daily. In addition, I also improved upon my attention to detail while still working with high accuracy. Both my intrapersonal skills and attention to detail are skills I value very highly.

The Wisconsin Farms Oral History Project is a University of Wisconsin system-wide project initiative that works to collect and preserve oral histories from farmers, food producers, and community members in Wisconsin. Since its beginning in 2012, students and faculty from four campuses (UW-Eau Claire, UW-Madison, UW-Milwaukee, UW-Oshkosh, and project headquarters, UW-Whitewater) have collected over 300 interview.The focus of the project is cultural, racial, and ethnic identity. The Wisconsin Farms Oral History Project looks to explore how culture, race, and ethnicity have played roles in farming, food production, and land use in Wisconsin.In my time with the Wisconsin Farms Oral History Project I performed a variety of tasks. I conducted three interviews with farmers in Jackson, Wisconsin and Janesville, Wisconsin. In addition to conducting oral histories myself, I also transcribed a number of interviews to be held in the archives of the University of Wisconsin library system. Using my research skills, I compiled resources about Native Americans and their use of the land in regard to farming. Finally, I organized all the archival material so that it could be utilized and accessed more easily.

I ran the scoreboard and clock for the men's and women's varsity soccer teams.

The Cedarburg Cultural Center (CCC) is located in the historic downtown of Cedarburg, Wisconsin. The CCC serves as the center for art, music, and history in Ozaukee County. The CCC was gifted thousands of photographs taken by a community member throughout his lifetime. During my summer internship, my task was to input the photographs into Past Perfect. Each photograph was uploaded, given a title, date, short description, and keywords to make them searchable on the database. I completed roughly 1,800 entries.
