Within the Schlegel Center for Service and Justice, I am a Graduate Assistant for the Service & Justice Trips Program. As part of Creighton University's Division of Mission and Ministry, the SCSJ is dedicated to "awakening hearts and lives of solidarity to build a more just world". Through direct service, justice education, Ignatian advocacy, leadership formation, and community building, we strive to fulfill this mission and inspire positive change in our communities.

Delivered high-quality, direct patient care to designated individuals. Responsibilities included the upkeep of a therapeutic atmosphere, ensuring a secure and nurturing setting, and attending to fundamental physical, emotional, and social requirements.Essential Responsibilities:- Assisted patients through a trauma-informed care atmosphere in the development of individuality and appropriate methods of self-expression.- Assisted patients in acknowledging and accepting responsibility for psychological and behavioral patterns by providing feedback and positive reinforcement and consistently applying program rights and regulations. - Performed basic nursing tasks (i.e., vital signs, blood pressure, specimen collection).- Communicated effectively utilizing both verbal and writing methods within a diverse and multi-cultural environment. - Utilized Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) techniques to reduce the use of restraints and/or seclusion, positive interpersonal skills, conflict management, problem-solving, critical thinking, and trauma-informed care. - Collaborated with medical staff and therapists on milieu management and daily assignments. - Precepted new MHTs and acted as a mentor and resource for staff.

Assisted in various projects related to the care and preservation of archival materials; built an oral history of a prominent photography collection by conducting qualitative interviews and preparing transcripts; engaged with students, faculty, staff, and visitors to the University Archives; collaborated with coworkers to create exhibits and complete information requests.

Engaged with prospective students and their families during campus tours; answered questions about the university and student experience; created a welcoming environment for all campus visitors; assisted in training new tour guides.

Conducted telephone-based patient interviews with individuals who tested positive for or had an exposure to the SARS-CoV-2 virus; collected health data for use of contact tracing efforts throughout the state of Nebraska; employed excellent interpersonal skills, cultural competency, and empathic interviewing to promote trust with individuals of diverse backgrounds; provided individuals with guidelines for quarantine/self-isolation procedures and answered related questions; adapted to quickly changing procedures and incorporated new knowledge into contact tracing.
